Before you start
Open the SERAVERRA report's Local & competitors tab. The Keep your business info consistent card shows exactly what the client's website says for the business name, address, and phone — note it. That's the spelling you're going to copy onto Google — pick one version and use it everywhere.
Copy the text straight from the client's website rather than retyping it. Most mismatches are tiny: "St" vs "Street", a missing suite number, or a different phone format.
Update the profile
- Open the Business Profile
Go to google.com/business and sign in with a Google account that manages the client's business — ask the client to add you as a manager if you don't have one. If the listing hasn't been claimed yet, the client searches for the business name and clicks "Claim this business" first — ownership has to be verified before anything can be edited.
- Edit the business name
Click Edit profile, then the Business name field. Type it exactly as it appears on the client's website — same spelling, same punctuation, no extra keywords.
- Edit the address
In the Location section, match the street address, suite or unit number, city, state, and ZIP to the website character for character. If customers visit the business, make sure the map pin sits on the right building.
- Edit the phone number
In the Contact section, use the same phone number — in the same format — as the website. If the site shows (412) 555-0134, don't enter 412-555-0134 on Google.
- Check the hours and website link
While you're there, confirm the hours are current (including holiday hours) and that the website link goes to the client's homepage — not a Facebook page or an old domain.
- Submit and wait
Click Save. Most edits go live within a few hours, but Google sometimes reviews changes for a few days. You'll get an email when they're published.
After the changes go live
Run a new SERAVERRA scan (the Rescan icon on the report). The business info check reads the website fresh each time — once Google matches, the mismatch flag clears.
Repeat the same copy-paste on the client's Yelp and Facebook listings. AI assistants check all of them, and one holdout keeps the mismatch alive.
