How it's calculated
Five checks score the site from 0 to 100, and together they're worth 90 points: structure counts for 25, metadata 25, crawler access 20, content 15, and performance 5. On top of that comes an FAQ adjustment: a weak or missing FAQ costs the site 10 points, a strong one adds 10, and one in between leaves the score unchanged. One more rule: if the site scores zero on crawler access — three or more of the ten AI crawlers we test are blocked — the score is capped at 40 no matter how well everything else does. The total is rounded to a whole number out of 100.
What the bands mean
- 90–100 — Ready. AI assistants can find, read, and quote the site. Work through any remaining fixes to stay ahead.
- 70–89 — Workable. The basics work, but something important is missing or broken. The top-ranked fixes in the report will move this fastest.
- Below 70 — Needs Work. AI assistants are likely struggling with the site. Start at fix #1 and work down; early wins are usually the biggest.
Don't chase 100. Fix the issues ranked highest in the report — they're ordered by impact, so the first few usually deliver most of the gain.
Comparing scores over time
